Colorsource spot updaterator

you can also update the with updaterator from a PC. it's easier to get current firmware versions on your PC than onn your Ion that isn't connected to the internet.

Either through your 2port gateway or through an ETC Gadget. As long as your PC and your gateway have compatible IP addresses it should be quite straight forward. The problem with updating through the ion is quite probably that the ion doesn't have the necessary firmware to update the spot.
If you prefer there is another method as well and that is getting the firmware onto your ion. You would still have to install Updaterator on your PC and then get it to download the firmware files, bit then you could transfer that Firmware to the Ion and update from there.
Whichever you prefer...

Thank you for that I will try it on my laptop later today.
Basically I just plug the NET3 gateway into my laptop via ethernet.
Make sure they have suitable IP adresses.
Plug the spots into the output of the NET3 via DMX
Then I should be able to see the spots in Updaterator?
Have I got that right?

correct. also make sure that there is a direct connection from the gateway to the colorsource spots, i.e. no DMX splitter inbetween.

I have managed to do it the way you said.
I had to do it as an RDM device as it did not directly show on the updaterator but it has done it.

The main window of UpdaterAtor will only show networked devices. To update fixtures and other RDM devices you will have to use the "RDM Devices" button when they are connected via gateways or the "USB/DMX Devices" button that shows up when they are connected via Gadget/USB Whip/Console IO Card.
