Using ELDT 50° LED (wide aperture 7.5") barrels on Halogen fixtures

Can you use ELDT 50° LED barrels on S4 Halogen bodies without damaging the ELDT barrel? Is the light quality acceptable? Is ETC against this practice?

Was hoping to hear a thought from ETC on the forum; no response.
I called ETC Tech-support; This practice is compeltely acceptable and approved by ETC. The barrels are interchangeable.

In short - it's totally fine, but you may notice gels burn out quicker with the EDLT 50 LED because of optical differences.
