High Failure Rate

Hi,

I work for an events company, and we've noticed that our source 4s seem to be blowing bulbs way more often than normal. We have a few possible ideas for might what be causing this:

-We usually use alpha packs for control. Can these develop faults that mean that they are pushing more power (I sadly cannot test them and our warehouse doesn't do more then testing they work)

-Are the lights too old (nobody seems sure how old they are, but the oldest are from the turn of the millennium)   

-Is it not helping that we tend to run these for 5+ hours a day at 100% (I just started working here)

  • A bit late to this discussion, but beyond the lamps being defective (I've received a bad batch before), but also inspect the pins on the lamps that go out. If you see anything except a smooth clean pin then your lamp base might be going out -- lots of reasons why this can happen. But the end result is that there is a small gap between the base and the lamp, causing arc'ing between the two which can cause premature wear on the lamp. These are field replaceable and the parts are affordable. Best thing to do is to keep track of when you swap out lamps on specific fixutres which can help identify if the problem is following the fixture or the lamp batch.
