16:9 Projector and Collage

I have a show comming up that will have 4 DL.2's on it. They are projecting onto two curved panels (two to each panel) that flank a flat center rear projected screen. Please see the image attached for clarification. The center screen will be using a fixed 16:9 Projector. I was wondering if I can use an Axon with the center projector and have the whole screen become a 5x1 collage. I know that there will be some funny blending issues where the DL.2 and the Rear Screen meet, but would this work? Thanks.

  • You may run into a few other issues here as well b/c you are using a combination of rear and front projection.

Plan on flipping your media 180 degrees on at least two axes (like X and Z or Y and Z) so that your files are playing back in the proper direction.

Here's an example...you have a media file of water ripples that move from stage left to stage right.

Well the ones projected by the DL.2s will move stage right to left and the one from the front will move from left to right.

Apart from this though you should have no problems making the collage.

Also the newer versions of the manual give a great deal of detail on curved surface support (keep in mind curved surfaces are dealt with on an individual/per fixture manner even when used in tandem with a collage).

    Hope this helps:)
