Request - Static IP address

1.4.0 - Axon

Am I missing something or is there no way to assign a static IP address through the CMA? I've looked at both Mac and PC CMA and cannot get into the IP field.

I want to put it on the Artnet IP range, but I do not have a DHCP server on my Artnet network so I'm stuck with leaving it auto-assign and running a DMX cable over. I like to have control over all of my IP settings on my network because of the Pathport nodes, ELC nodes, etc. and like to keep things clean.

Is there anything I'm missing???

  • Jon,

You aren't missing anything! We don't allow for static IP configuration on the fixtures. There are too many situations that come up where static ip's incorrectly configured would bring the network down. This is especially true with rental houses where the fixtures are arriving set to God knows what and you won't find the problem until the rig is already in the air.

There are 2 easy alternatives. You can use a simple Router to provide DHCP Services and set it to hand out addresses in the range you want, or configure your Artnet node to transmit data in the 169.254.x.x range.
