What can the Catalyst do?

Hi All, I'm into something new and its obviously catalyst.
I have a question which some of you might find it silly.
I just want to know a catalyst can do.
I tried playing around with it but i kind of like couldn't advance to more than the little knowledge i have now.So most importantly i need to know wat it can do rite?So i'm looking foward to your replies and hoefully suggestions of which i can make use to learn from.

    You may want to take a look at the product support pages for Catalyst on the High End Systems web site. These pages have downloads for the user manuals and getting started guides, among other useful references.

    Browse to www.highend.com, click on the Support menu and select Product Support, then choose one of the Catalyst products from the list and click Go.
