Can Concert replace a console?

Hello -

I'm being thrown into the deep end of a lighting setting.

The environment I am dealing with is essentially a small venue with 3 racks of fixed positioned lights and 2 movers.

It has no console, and all of their controls are done on a touch panel in the wall.

I am looking for some quick answers and maybe a reference point or two.

So I am hoping that the Concert software that I loaded onto my PC will give me the ability to control the lights, create sequences that will let me turn off different lights within a rack, and also control the movers and angle them to where I need to move them.

So what I am ultimately asking is this:  Will Concert replace an actual console and give me the ability to do what I want?

Thanks

  • I found my own answer... and it's no.  Concert seems like it's more for diagramming out the lighting environment than controlling anything.

For controlling the lights on a laptop, check out ETCNomad.  That's the software for your PC.

  • Yes, a software solution such as ETCNomad is an easy way to utilize the EOS software - you'll still need a license key, but for activating the software, for this scenario would cost much less than a full console, still giving you the functionality of a full console.
