When connecting my PC running Connect to the ETC Lighting I only see a rack and can't get a proper IP.

Hello -

I'm new to all this lighting environment process and I'm being thrown into the deep end.
So any help would be appreciated.

I'm trying to do things one at a time and get familiar with different software, so that I can mentally put the pieces in my head together.

So with my PC laptop running Connect, and connecting the ETC lighting network cable to my rj-45 connection, and making sure it's the only option selected in my Preferences option, the only item that Connect sees is a RACK icon, and it's not generating a proper IP address to my PC.
How can I access the Rack and have it generate a proper IP.  and when I say "proper IP" addy, I mean something that is not 169.254.x.x.

How can I make sure it's running DHCP? Or how can I access the Rack and check on the settings of that unit?
