Response 4 port gateway - one universe blinking

I'm wondering if anyone knows what would make just one of the four ports start blinking. The other three ports are outputting DMX fine, so it's not a loss of connection to the console. We have two Ions and a Geo on the network. Disconnecting the Geo seems to eliminate the problem, which is odd because it's just backing up with all its output settings set to off. It's happened on more than one Gateway, though not at the same time. What, other than a loss of network connection, would cause a gateway to think one universe had lost DMX?

  • If nothing is patched into that universe, then the port will blink.

So, Uni 4 has nothing patched, then the "4" blinks.  Uni 1,2,3 have one address in the patch, they will remain solid.

  • Thanks for the reply. Good guess, but not only are there plenty of channels patched on that universe, the blinking seems to happen randomly while levels are being set. We'll notice that lights aren't responding to the console, check the gateway and find one universe blinking. Resetting the gateway usually resolves it for a while, then it will happen again. It's puzzling.

  • Did you solve it?  I've had issues in 2.7.3 where gateways of all brands seem to only like receiving sACN or Artnet exclusively.  My response 4s only behave properly on sACN (which is all they work on) and my other brands will blink and show what you are saying if they receive sACN but are perfect on Artnet.  This has only been an issue on 2.7.3.
