Hi all,
I want to try and make my lighting IP network a bit more robust...I currently have the following:-
1 x ETC Cobalt desk (192.168.24.100)
1 x Chauvet Net-X ii Ethernet to DMX Node (192.168.24.103)
1 x Netgear WiFi Router (used as a DHCP server and to allow access to control the desk from the IOS and android Apps)
I am not sure its all setup as good as it could be so I have purchased a switch (Netgear Prosafe 24-Port Gigabit Smart Switch) as I would like to add some trunking for redundancy (as the cobalt has 2 ethernet ports)
A couple of questions...
1. Does anyone have a suggested setup, IP addresses for the above, is their an industry or ETC standard IP range for consoles etc...
2. Should I make the Cobalt the DHPC server for the system, I will still need to add a wireless access point to the new setup so that the IOS apps still work etc...so am I best to leave that as the DHCP server?
3. Is the redundancy easy to set up? I believe in the networking world its called trunking, is that correct?
Any other advice or info you can give would be appreciated.
Cheers
David.
