Yes, Eos can send Art-Net directly. You need to enable it in the Settings menu in the shell, then patch as appropriate. Remember that Art-Net universe 0 is Eos universe 1, 1=2, 2=3, and so on.

Can you run a network cable right out of the console right into the G5 for the catalyst or do you need a art-net interface?

Just plug the network cable straight in.

Art-Net interfaces are only for converting between DMX and Art-Net (in either direction).

I think you would need a ethernet switch or you could use a crossover cable to connect them directly.

Eos actually has a built-in Ethernet switch so no additional switch or crossover cable would be required.
