Hmmmm.  That looks like a 50A pack and also looks like wire smaller than needed for 50A.  If so, then indeed it does have overcurrent protection but I wouldn't want to be near it when it pops.

maybe i should have titled the post "poor man's fusing"  :)  would this solution qualify for a "slow blow" rating?

Is THHN legal to use as a fused link ?.
