Need help quick with Smartpack

Hi, I am working on a system and want to know the best way to use the Smartpack dimmer system with gear.  We would be adding it to a newer building with no gear yet.  We want to be able to have a 48channel dimmer system for conventionals at 110v and also a way to get power for moving lights at 208v.  We need to be able to get to the moving light power section to turn of the power when the event is done.  We also need to plug/hardwire 15 channels of house lights into the dimmer and then use wall controls for the house lights.  The whole thing will plug into our lighting console.

Whats the best way to do this?

  • You may want to think in terms of using a couple of SmartPacks to get the 48 dimmable circuits, then add a SmartSwitch for the moving lights.  There's no way to get 208V out of a SmartPack, but the SmartSwitch can use 2-pole relays.  For many moving lights, it's also best to have a proper relay instead of using a dimmer to control power.

For house light control, you could look at using Smartlink button stations to recall presets in the SmartPack and SmartSwitch.

Depending on your particular needs, it may end up being better/cheaper to use a Unison DRd rack, possibly in combination with a SmartSwitch.  The best way to figure that out is to talk with your local dealer.  To find out who that is, go to the contact page and choose your state from the drop-down menu under "Dealers".
