Soliciting Input: Knowledgebase

Hello all,

I'm currently involved with the latest and greatest update to the ETC website....more specifically the Technical Services Knowledgebase / WIKI updates for the redesign and I'm looking for some feedback from all of you.

Why might you ask? Because I go to meetings and talk about what I think we need from an ETC point of view and I speak to what I think internal users and external customers might want.

I might come back every so often and ask for input on various things I'm thinking about

For this 1st thread, let's try to focus on the existing ETC WIKI available at: http://www.etcconnect.com/Community/wikis/products/etc-product-wiki-table-of-contents.aspx

And not talk about the website in general (Please)

My first question:

I like the navigation of the current WIKI. Start with the broad product categories and drill down 2-3 levels. I'm currently highly committed to maintaining this type of navigation in the next generation. How important is this to all of you?

This is somewhat of an important question as newer web based system want to use the most recent advances in tagging, taxonomy and metadata and not the more traditional Wiki format that ETC is currently using.

{Any new system will have vastly improved search as the current solution is going on 9-10 years old (technology)} For example of how this new search might work, checkout http://moodyweb.wikispaces.com/ and type 'graphics + radio' into the search wiki box and hit enter. The way the results are displayed will most likely be available regardless of what kind of GUI front end ETC uses for the Knowledgebase

Let me know

Thanks

Mike
