GOTO preset

I've wondered that myself when I reuse presets.  The only way I know to get to the exact step you want is to go into the system settings and have the GOTO set to Step instead of preset, then have the board op and SM use the step numbers instead of the preset numbers.  The real problem with this, of course, is if you have to insert a step after everyone has their scripts marked, you have to renumber everything from that point!

The rule is "Always jump forward from here."

Remember that sequences 'loop' through Preset Zero by default, so once it passes the 'end', it wraps back to the start and so you'll get the first instance of a given Preset if there aren't any ahead.

If you need to use Goto in your situation, and want to make sure you know to which step you are going to, try using the Goto list. Just press Goto without pressing a number. This will give you a list of all steps (and presets), focus the step you want to jump to and press Goto and the crossfade is started, then close the tab with ESC.

Regarding the LD/SM question - use Sequence Texts. I always think of the label on the Preset as the name of the look - i.e. "Kitchen Day" and the Sequence Text as the context of that look - i.e. "Act 2, Scene 3, Joe Enters".

With sequence texts like those, your board op and SM will always know where they are in the list, and you can reuse and manage Presets as you will.

(And the GOTO List is an excellent tool for jumping around in sequences regardless of whether you reuse presets, as you cannot scroll the playback tab. :-))

Re: inserting new or re-using presets without making the SM renumber his entire script--in this case I typically label the sequence steps "LQ 1" or "LQ 5.3" or whatever is needed for the SM...sometimes I'll add more for my own (board op/lighting designer) reference, i.e. "LQ 9.1 AF sunset" or LQ 4 B.O". On the rare occasion someone else is calling the show, they don't need to care what the Preset # or Step # is.

An open GOTO List is not updating (adding)  the new steps in the list  when I record new steps in the reffering sequence?
Is it like that?

You could also use the GOTO Tab and slect the preset u want. we have taught our board ops to ues that in case of a cue jump.
