Congo, which version?

I just bought a Congo that came with version 6.3.  It crashed and burned before we could put it to full use but the bug was that it did not control LTP values in real time.

My dealer has serviced / fixed it and installed version 5.9.  Before I take hold of it again I want to know what version majority of you are using and if it is stable?

Thanks

  • There are indeed no such versions (yet!) as 6.3 or 5.9.

Congo (and all ETC software) version numbers are at least three digits - we really need all three to be sure of which version you have.
    - At a guess, you've now got version 5.0.0. This is not a recommended version, as it has multiple known issues that have been corrected by later versions.

The currently recommended software version is v6.0.3, which can be downloaded for free from the ETC website here.

Version 6.0.3 is both the fastest and the most stable version of Congo to date, and we recommend that all users of Congo upgrade to this version at the next suitable opportunity.

If you have any issues, or just want a bit of info on programming techniques, please call your local ETC office, or email congo (at) etcconnect (dot) com.

What was the problem you were seeing before?

  • The desk came with version 6.03.  The problem was that if I controlled pan and tilt values of the several movers there was a lag in their response time.  If I  then recorded two presets with different pan and tilt values there was also delay in the response time of the fixtures.  HTP dimmer values seemed to be OK.

  • Could you send us a show file that we can look at? Did you notice any other problems with 6.0.3?

V6.0.3 is normally considered to be the fastest and most responsive Congo version so far. If it doesn't perform well for you, we need to understand why.

  • Which e-mail address should I send the file to?

I understand from my dealer that  Steve Wilcher head of technical or similar in the UK  has confirmed that this is a known problem.

  • Hi -

Please send the file to Congo AT etcconnect.com.

    Thanks -

  • The known issue that we have is that longer crossfade times (and other times as well) aren't always accurate.

Your case sounds a bit different because your intensities fade in a proper time but your attributes are not. I am not sure that it is related to the known issue.

Have you been having any problems with normal crossfade times?

From your post, it sounds like when you downgraded to v5.1, these problems went away. Is this correct?
