Augment3d Feature request - Copy Object Function

Hi, Is it possible to add the feature to copy an object in Augment3d? For example we have a set built from standard 8' x 4' Steeldeck but for each piece of deck I have to import a table and then change the properties to be 8' by 4'. I have to repeat this each time, rather than select a table of the correct size and copy it.

I have found as a slight shortcut that importing many tables, selecting them all and then changing the size can speed things up.

So, please can I request a model be made for Steeldeck?!!

Request for generic more accurate models for Fresnels, flood lights, birdies etc.

Please can we have a model for the beam from a Parcan?

Another request - please can we get rid of the Scale function for an object. I can't see why anyone would want to "make my object on stage 1.4 times larger on the x axis" as opposed to "can my object be three feet wide". It just confuses as its another set of numbers to look at.

Is it possible to set the origin of an object not in the centre? This makes it  more to difficult to place objects, especially if you have a measured set design. I believe you can do this when importing from Vectorworks but not when creating objects in Augment3d?

If any of these things is possible already then apologies - please let me know how!

Thanks, Liam.

  • Howdy Liam,

As you have a mix of feature requests, comments, and items that have been implemented already, I'm not going to move your post, but for future feature requests, please use the feature request section: https://community.etcconnect.com/control_consoles/eos-family-consoles/i/feature-requests. Be sure to make a separate post for each individual request rather than grouping them together in a single post. (This will allow them to be dispositioned individually.

    On to your questions:

Is it possible to add the feature to copy an object in Augment3d?

This is already possible! In Augment3d edit mode, select the object in the Hierarchy and use Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste. You can also duplicate an object by using Ctrl+D when it is selected in the Hierarchy. (Mac OS use Cmd instead of Ctrl)

So, please can I request a model be made for Steeldeck?!!

Generally we don't add specific manufacturer scenic models to the library as that could get very overwhelming very quickly. I would recommend that you take advantage of the scenic model import system to import your own 3D model of the Steeldeck products. On the list of features for the future is a user model library so you may want to add your vote to that request. You may also wish to submit a feature request for a generic platform object (not specifically Steeldeck) here: https://community.etcconnect.com/control_consoles/eos-family-consoles/i/feature-requests

Request for generic more accurate models for Fresnels, flood lights, birdies etc.

Accurate to what? They are currently accurate to the fixture they were modeled from but generic so as to not be specific to a single fixture manufacturer. If you wish to have a specific fixture modeled, you can submit a request along with the detailed drawings and dimensions in the Fixture Request section here: https://community.etcconnect.com/control_consoles/eos-family-consoles/f/fixture-requests

Please can we have a model for the beam from a Parcan?

This is on the list, please see: https://support.etcconnect.com/ETC/Consoles/Augment3d/Fixtures_with_Asymmetric_Beams_Render_Round

I'm sorry this is confusing you, but it is quite useful when you want make an object twice as big or half the size without calculating the dimensions yourself. I would recommend just ignoring the Scale fields if you don't wish to use them.

I'm assuming that you are asking about either changing the origin point of an object after it has been added to the library or when inserting a stock object from the library. This is not currently possible. Object model origins are established when the object is added to the library (which is why you can determine the origin point when the model is added to the library during import). If you would like the feature of being able to modify the origin of an object after insertion into the model to be added in a future version, I would encourage you to submit the request here: https://community.etcconnect.com/control_consoles/eos-family-consoles/i/feature-requests
