General Augment3d Model Processing

Just have a general question about how EOS and Augment3d are processing information. If the Augment3d tab is not open on a machine, is the system still processing any of the model information? For instance, if a take a file to a super basic (i.e. i3 or very little graphics processing) laptop running nomad and simply don't open the Augment3d tab would there be any concern about running a show? Is that model information going to bog down the system processing even with no Augment3d tab open? Just trying to figure out how the software is dealing with all this "new" information.

Thanks!

  • This is a great question. The answer is it depends...

If you have never opened the Augment3d tab in your session (e.g. shut down with the tab closed then reopen and don't open Augment3d after starting up) then it will have no effect on your system.

If you have opened the Augment3d tab in your session but closed the tab, Augment3d is still running in the background and will use some resources.

Alternately, you could also disable Augment3d from running in Setup>System>Augment3d.

Keep in mind that when you disable or never open Augment3d, features that rely on Augment3d will be unavailable/will not function as planned.

For multi-console, the model is included as a part of the show file and is synchronized even if it isn't used on the target machine. Depending on the complexities of your system and model, this can introduce extra time in sync events. Once transferred, it should not further affect the device not running Augment3d.
