Changing the position of a single device after creating a show

I actually lit the show with integrated A3D; now, for the documentation and upcoming guest performances, I need to reposition a fixture in the A3D along the x-axis.
The DMX values must not be affected. But that’s exactly what happens when I move the fixture along that axis.

My problem is that in A3D, the fixture is outside the room—but on stage, everything is lit correctly. As soon as I change the x-axis in the A3D “Position & Orientation” patch, the settings on the fixture on stage are no longer correct—and neither are they in A3D, for that matter. -At least the device is hanging in the right spot in the A3D room.

I’m using a P12 Profile HC and Gio 3.2.12 with an external computer for visualization.

  • This is hard to tell without showfile, but it sounds like the fixture's position is recorded in XYZ_Format in which case the channel will change its Pan and Tilt values to keep pointing at the originally programmed spot. If you want the fixture to maintain its Pan/Tilt value when you move it you should change your presets (or cues) to Pan/Tilt_Format before you move the fixture to its new position. After the move you can re-enable XYZ_Format for your channel.
