Controlling Eos via OSC with an ETCNomad education package

Hello. No, the license is not required so it should work. Have you enabled OSC in the shell and in settings within the console? Are you using TCP or UDP?

Hello. Yes, I followed the infos from the manual to activate the OSC, I think it's all good. I'm using the UDP protocol in local (Max runs on the same computer as Eos) on port 8000. I'm on ETCNomad 2.9.1.
(sorry my software is in french but i guess you will find the parameters)

That screen shot is the string UDP page, you need to enable osc in the OSC page (just above), but remove the port from the string UDP page. If you go into the diagnostics tab (99) you can enable incoming osc to see if you are getting any data in 

Wow thanks for the diagnostics tab, great tool. That's better! It was an IP address problem (localhost or 127.0.0.1 didn't work, I had to enter the IP address of my network card in Max...).
Now I get my OSC message in Eos diagnostics tab (/eos/chan/1=50), but nothing happens in the Live tab. Is this normal?

Are you seeing the channel come up to 50%? I don't use that specific eos syntax so I'm not sure if it's correct..

The syntax seems correct (I got it out of the manual, and I have no error message in the diagnostics tab when it gives me one if the syntax is wrong). But no, nothing moves in the Live tab...

Eos doesn't seem to throw errors for every error (which is frustrating!) you could try /eos/newcmd/1/at/50/# (from memory..) - edited to changed to /eos/newcmd which will ensure a clear command line when you start..

Yes it's better, but not quite that yet! I can now see the command in the command line, but there is still a syntax error. No matter, it works, I just need to study a bit more the OSC syntax in Eos (which doesn't seem particularly intuitive to me, though...).

please don't use the Show Control User Guide. it's 2.5 years old and not maintained anymore. it's now integrated in the eos manual.

the problem is likely the =. this really depends on the software you're using to separate the command from the argument. in Max it could be a space, a comma or other stuff.

Ok thank you for the advice... I've tried different separators in Max, but nothing works yet... :-/

if you look at the package with e.g. Wireshark, is the package actually an OSC package or is it just UDP that looks like OSC?

Sorry I'm not familiar with these kind of software and I'm not sure to be able to use it quickly in a good way...
