OSC training resources

Question

I've got a rider for a March show that is requesting a ChamSys console, so they can control lighting channels through OSC input into the console (the source originates in the sound console). 
 My local suppliers don't have a ChamSys console. 
 I know the Ion has OSC capabilities. 
 1) can someone point me to a training video for Ion/Eos OSC? 
 2) can someone give me the basics on how to set-up OSC so something else can trigger Ion through OSC to turn on / off channels? 
 3) can I test this through a Nomad laptop outputting OSC into my Ion, prior to the show arriving? 
 
 Thanks very much. this one is way out of my field.

 2) before we get into that there are some basic questions that your guest maybe can answer. What is the Sound Desk doing? Is is just sending a "Go" for the next Cue? Or is there more Magic? So before we hopp into more lets make sure we talk about stuff you realy need for your upcomming production.
