Very disappointing to find no MIDI sockets on the Element2, as there was on the Element Classic. Can anyone help with guidance as to how to implement MIDI, since we often control the ETC from our sound system via MIDI.

Hi David,
Element2 supports third-party USB MIDI Devices and the ETC Response MIDI Gateway via USB or over the network. Response Show Control Gateways
Additionally, Element2 supports OSC as well if that option is available with your setup.
I am afraid we could not afford the ETC Response Gateway and would need a third party USB Midi device. However, I think we have to be sure to get one that requires "no drivers required". Have you any suggestions for any ones that meet this requirement?
I have successfully used a Roland UM-ONE Mk2 in the past.
In my experience it's a bit harder to find affordable adapters that can do Midi timecode (rather than for Midi notes and the like) because of the speed and amount of data coming in.
I'm not saying the Roland adapter can or cannot do Midi timecode, I only used it for notes and Control Change.
Fortunately we do not need to use Midi timecode, just simple MSC cue control. For general info, I can confirm that an OTRAKI USB MIDI Cable Professional USB In-Out MIDI Cable adaptor works absolutely fine. It appears the driver is in the unit itself and automatically loads on power up.
