Master fader when show control fires different cue list

I am just getting started with show control on EOS, and we currently have multiple cue lists, one for each element. When our current cue list is on the master fader pair, and show control triggers a cue, that cue is also placed on the master fader pair and the PSD advances as expected. However, if show control fires a cue on a different cue list, neither the PSD nor the master fader pair changes cue lists -- what steps am I missing so that both the PSD and Master Fader following to this next cue list?

    the only way to have a different cuelist on main playback is to

    - change in fader config (Tab 36)
    - change in fader list (Tab 35)
    - add a link to a cue that points to a different cuelist and then press Go
    - load a cue or cuelist to the main playback using command line syntax.

    the main playback is not a selected cuelist that lives elsewhere, it is a real fader location.
