Connecting a ArtNet / sACN node to ETC EOS on MAC

Hello!

First of all i'm sorry if this has already been explained on the forum but i havne't found the info and i'm really bad at net protocols.

I bought a DMX interface node so i can output channels in different universes con my ETC EOS on MAC. ALso i'm planning on upgrade the universe capacity.

I bought the showtec net-8/5 (https://www.highlite.com/es/50810-net-8-5.html) and i'm having a real hard time trying to connect it and make it work.

It can work both with ArtNet or sACN but neither are working for me right now.

Could anyone help me connect it to get the 8 universes output?

Thank you so much!

  • Let's check some basics first:

    • You have a ETCNomad dongle connected to your Mac?
    • You started Nomad as Primary?
    • The IP address of your Mac and your node are in the same subnet? (i.e. they have similiar IP addresses but not the same)
    • You have a wired network connection between your Mac and your node?
    • You have enabled sACN as protocol on the correct network port? (Setup > Device > Network)
    • In Patch > Protocols you have enabled sACN?
    • In Patch > Protocols you have made sACN a Standard protocol? (not absolutely necessary but helps with the following steps)
    • In Patch > Patch, with one of your channels selected look at the patch list, there is a section with different protocols. Does the channel have a + or * in the sACN column?
    • In Live bring that channel to full intensity. When you open Tab 37 (sACN Output tab) and select that channel, do you see 255 in the highlighted rectangle on screen?
    • On the top right of this tab is there a red error message?

    Some questions:

    • What macOS version are you trying?
    • What Nomad version are you trying?
    • How are connected between your Mac and the node? Direct patch cable, network switch?
    • What are the IP address, subnet mask and router settings of your Mac?
    • What are the IP address, subnet mask and default gateway settings of your node?
  • Hi!

Okay thank you so much! I got it working. The problem was the networkcable i was using, but many of the things you told me were so useful!

    Thank you so much!
