Cue stacks and the GM

[Cue] 2/ [Enter] [Load] would assign cue list 2 to the master playback.

Do you happen to know if there is a way to reassign (or assign different) playback numbers to cue lists?

I am not sure I know what you mean by the term playback number. I guess it comes from a console I have not used. I also don't know what type of console you have and things like fader controls vary a bit between them.

You might want to thumb through the tutorials and videos here and find the one for your console that describes fader controls, or submaster playback.

In general, you can assign (Load), unassign (Shift+Load) or use the submaster page [Sub][Sub] to move things around.
