Labels in Patch

I know there's been some stuff about this before but I'm just wondering why, when I unpatch in address format, the associated channels lose their labels, and vice versa? It's annoying on a touring move. What is the reasoning behind this please?

Thanks,

Jane

  • I agree completely that the label should stay with the channel, no matter how the channel is unpatched. The resident opera company that I work with here performs at a second venue, and we always have to unpatch the conventional dimmers, but leave any moving lights or scrollers patched where they are. Going thru by channel to remove the addresses is tedious, especially with lights that have a conventional dimmer & a scroller attached.

Perhaps if there are venues that require it (I know it would be helpful for me!) ETC could add an address label in patch to differentiate between the channel label (which shows up in your direct selects), and the need to label certain addresses for things that are always plugged into the same dimmer, but are often patched to different channels.
