ion & Catalyst

Hi all

Following on my earlier posting regarding Ion and media server's, I am looking at the Ion for controlling a Catalyst media server. I have been looking through the patch options within the Ion OLE and I cannot find oneI realise Catalyst is a dis-continued product but I cannot find a personality for the unit. Is there one?? I have checked under Barco and High End to no avail.

On another note, I am wondering if anybody has any tip or tricks for plotting w/media servers on the Ion? I am going through the youtube videos & tea break tutorials and am familiar with the console but I have yet to find any dedicated material etc.

On a separate note, is it possible to create a client on a network capable of view changes/cues running on Ion without a RVI unit or similar? You can construe this as a cheap method desired e.g designer is sitting in the auditorium and wishing to view cues as the tech is being ran.

many thanks

  • You will find Catalyst listed under the SAMSC manufacturer.

If your designer just wants to see the cuelist progress they can connect any PC or Mac running offline software as a Client in Mirror mode, which will allow them to see the display of the Primary console.

If they need more flexibility to navigate their own views and not be tied to seeing what the programmer is doing you need a Client dongle in the PC/Mac. This will allow a Client connection under a different User ID, much like an RVi.

Your local ETC dealer can give you a price on a dongle.

  • The Catalyst Media Server fixture profiles are located under the manufacturer SAMSC.

  • Hi Stephen & Graham

Many thanks for quick replies. I had just now discovered the mirror mode in the Revised Manual for 1.9.5!..

Thanks for the pointers and headups.

    cheers
