Ion Client Dongle

How do I connect my laptop to my ION Console with the Client Dongle?

Should I use the ethernet port on the back of the console to hook up my wireless router or another option is: we have a dmx cable plugged into the 2nd jack on the back of the board which is wired to an ethernet jack backstage. Should I hardwire my laptop into this?

Please help!

Use the network router.

Look into the network settings of the console to make sure they play well together. Do not have DHCP enabled on both router and console. If you are not familiar with IP networks then get some help.

DMX and Ethernet are very different and plugging one into the other can damage expensive things.

There is more in the manuals for both the console and the PC software.

Good luck,

When you have some time you might look into that ethernet jack backstage. With any luck it's just another network port. If it's something else then you may have a accident waiting to happen. There is also an old system called ETCnet that will not interact with a modern network. ETCNet2. & ETCNet3 are good to use.

There is a WIKI article on ETC standard IP addresses (all in the 10.101 range) which they do for good reasons. If you have other ETC equipment networked then it can be helpful.
