Changing LED Fixture types but keeping programming on ION

Howdy everyone.

We have a show that we are moving into a competition tomorrow and I'm running into one large question that I didn't get time to work out for myself in the shop today.

The venue that we are going into has SpectraCYC units, but unfortunately that's all we know. We don't know what mode they are in.

When precueing the show, we used some of our SpectraCYCs which use a 16b Master Smooth Mk1 profile.

We have a total of 2 minutes to load our showfile, check our patching, and go due to competition rules.

SO, the point is this. Can I replace the fixture type of the same "kind of fixture" (for instace, the 16b Mstr Smooth Mk1 into a 8b mk1) and will the console adapt the programming as long as the channel number is the same? Will it associate the old RGBA DMX values with the new ones and ignore the other (16 bit) info, or will they need to be recued with the new profiles?

The alternative for us is to dump the cyc onto faders and run it separately from the cuelist if the changing of the fixture types doesn't work out.

With any luck, their units will be set for the same mode as ours... but with like 18 different profiles available, I don't like those odds.
