Chauvet Colorado 1 quad tour profile

Hey Everyone,

I am going to be using these for the first time. I am really only using them as accents and color splashes. I do note need to use any effects or strobing. I am wondering if I want to be able to use them as RGBW units do I need to put them in 4 or 5 channel mode. The 5th channel being a dimmer. I will be using an Ion for control. I was under the impression that when the and LED unit is patched that selecting the fixture number and adjusting the level would adjust the intensity of the colors proportionately. Right now I am trying to figure out the addressing for paperwork and if don't need to eat up the extra control channel, why would I. Is there any advantages to doing it in 5 channel mode. Again this is a pretty much static set. Maybe a down look and an up look, we are using them merely for color mixing.

Thanks for the help.

  • not near a console at the moment so i don't know if there are profiles for either mode in the library. if you end up writing a profile yourself, consider this: for your 4channel mode (virtual dimmer channel) u can use Generic > LED RGBW 8bit. if you want to write a profile for the 5channel mode (true dimmer channel) you would have to start from scratch because else you would end up with virtual dimming as well as the fixture's dimming which would result in an undesirable diming curve.
