  • i set up an element last week. plug in ethernet cable, in desk switch off dhcp (i hope that has been done already), in router config bring ip address to the same first three octets as the ion but with a different fourth octet (e.g. 10.101.90.254), subnet 255.255.0.0 . in the shell in network settings activate RFR access. start ion-software. show About (without channel selected, shows you info about console).

in the irfr-app, settings, new console. first field: some name (that's just for you), then the IP-address (you can see that one on the ion in the about display) and the console-name as password (also in the about display). safe, and go back to connect and then start irfr.

it's from memory, i hope i got everything. if not, could someone please chime in and remind me?

    thx, ueli

  • There are a number of different ways to approach it theoretically.  ETC's guide is at http://community.etcconnect.com/wikis/products/irfr-how-to-setup-your-wireless-network.aspx , and if you do not have any special needs, I would suggest following that as it will be the easiest to get support on here.

The key things to keep in mind are making sure only one place provides a dhcp server (either the console or the router) and the ip's on all devices are in the same subnet.
