Lightwright and Ch Labels

Any thought or word on when or if we will ever be able to port over the Lightwright Purpose or something similar column/data into Channel Labels in Eos series ?.

It would greatly simplify the creation of the magic sheets if would could use data already created for the plot and hookups.

Thanks

  • Yup, that works.

The Magic Sheet functions allow different data from the Patch Database to be used on the buttons, such as Channel button with Field 1 being the Ch "1", Field 2 having Text 4.

Which is data from LW.  And it's pretty easy in LW to move data from column to column, so flexibility in what LW data goes to which text field in Eos.

    Thanks Uelieregg

  • Another trick is that the only fields with any real meaning are channel, dimmer, and device type. For example, you can think of Color as a translation of Text 3.   If you want Instrument Type, for example, to import into Text 3, use a text editor to change the column title from "Instrument Type" to "Color". In this way, you can export any LW field to the Eos database.

Any easier method and if doing this transfer often (which I will be) is to create a basic LW file that has only the following columns - Channels, Addresses, Purpose, Color, as well as Circuit Name and Circuit if you intend, or need to get add'l data into Eos (those being the 6 fields Eos import recognizes).  You can open 2 LW files at the same time and it's an easy cut and paste of the entire columns worth of data from one Channel column in the "Master" LW file to the same Channel column in the "Export to Eos" file.  You can place any text/data you want onto Circuit name and Circuit, position and unit number are useful. Then create an automated export for LW to send to "Export to Eos" over to the OLE, with all the columns above selected as well as Device Type, as the checked items to export.
