Midi out problems

Hi

I am trying to get the GIO to send MSC. I can recieve without any problems (not a bad cable)

I have: MSC transmit >enabled

I have: MSC transmit channel:1

The Qlab system is set to listen to channel 1. And the cue is set to be triggered by Note number 1,  velocity 1.

but when I fire list1/cue 1 nothing happens?

Is the GIO sending out note on or program change or does that not matter at all.

  • Yes I have read the article unfortunately it does not tell me how to name the cues i either Eos or Qlab so thats just one more variable that has to be tested for each new idea :(

It would be so nice to have a window that tells you exactly what is being transmitted thru the MIDI out port (Like the MA2 has) then I would be able to find out if the problem is at my end. And the wiki article on "understanding the MSC commands...." would be more helpfull because you would be able to see what cue number and command you are actually sending and if you are sending anything at all.

And another small question: I seems weird that there is setup for Midi Rx/Tx Group ID in both Local I/O and in show control with in the software? Why is that so?

  • Agreed, it would be nice to have more info about connecting with QLab in the wiki. I will get something added as soon as I can. I don't know how the 1 vs 1.0 vs 1.00 is handled, but I can find out next time I have a console. You can set the MIDI group in different places because it allows for multiple sources and routings. You could, for example, send MIDI raw commands (notes) via the ports on the rear of the Gio, but MSC via a Show Control Gateway on the network. It should, however, default out of the box in a ready-to-use state (Groups 1 & 2 for in & out in both locations). I hope we can find the problem and solution quickly - I know its frustrating to troubleshoot.
  • The Eos Diagnostics display shows what Eos is sending out via MIDI.
