Lamping Off in a Cue

Howdy,

I had an issue on a previous show and would like to know how to sort it out if it arose again!

I got through long Tech rehearsals and dresses with no probs but when it came to the opening show one VL2000 lamped off mid show - initially I thought it was over heating or something but it happened at exactly the same point for the next few shows.

I couldn't find any way a lamp off command could have been trapped in the cue and I hadn't even created a macro to do this!

Anyway, after replotting the cue I thought was causing issues and several around it I had no joy apart from to use an inhibit to prevent it from lamping off during that time - obviously though, this made the VL useless in this time.

Luckily it wasn't a very long run and the show file wasn't going anywhere but I'd like to know if anyone has had similar issues and if they've managed to correct it! BTW - the VL hasn't had any lamping issues since.

Thanks!!!

  • I would check the last cue the fixture was active in, as well as the out cue----My guess is you accidentally turned off the lamp in that cue---Otherwise, have you checked the settings on the fixture?  I believe you can disable dmx lamp control from the menu on-board the vl.

I tried looking at the cues around the one I thought was problematic and as I said ended up completely replotting them. The annoying thing was it wouldn't happen if I went 10 cues back and ran them real time it would only happen when running from the top of the show.

Do you know how to check a lamp command in a cue? it doesn't seem to appear as an attribute with a value like shutter or gobo would - only in the about section so I couldn't find a way to look through the values that attribute had been given in specific cues!

    Cheers!
