Pixel Map Virtual Layer Control

Doing more work with my pixel maps today I added a Virtual Layer Control to my showfile as well as my Virtual Effect Layers.

Unfortunately whenever I have the intensity control for the Virtual Server and the Virtual Layer at full it sends the rest of my lighting rig (across all universes) completely bonkers.

I have imported a jpg and a mov file into Library 1, as files 1 and 2, but other than that have not done anything radical at all.

I'll shut down and do a deep clear and see what happens then and report back, but any advice/suggestions in the meantime would be appreciated.

  • That sounds like you've accidentally patched (at least part of) the output of the pixel mapping to the same DMX outputs as the rest of your rig.
    - It's pretty common to want pixel mapping and 'normal' control of the same fixtures so you won't get a warning.

    Check your VMS pixel maps.

If you can't find it, you could email your show file to eos (at) etcconnect (dot) com and we'll take a look.

  • Are the fixtures that you are using in your pixel map also patched in conventional patch?

If so, when you go to the use the pixel map, I would set the Crossover parameter of the Virtual Media Server to -100 to give the pixel map total control over the fixtures in the pixel map.  It defaults to 0 which means HTP between the pix map and conventional values.
