Command Line

Greetings, 
 We have the RVI for our designer desk. The designer wants to setup his own screens without messing with my layout in the booth. So, I set our GIO as User 1 and the RVI as User 2. However, he wants to see what I am typing on the command line. I know you can set this up with magic sheets, but he does not want that. He wants to see it at the bottom of the cue list. Is this possible?

That is correct. Partitions are a user setting, not a device setting. You effectively have three choices: 
 Make the designer his own user. The only way to see an alternative user command line is via Magic Sheets. 
 Make the designer the same user. He will be able to set his own formats (as those are device specific), and will be able to see the command line. However, all devices that are the same user share the same operating modes. 
 Put the designer in mirror mode.

Some of what you want may be possible simply by being in the same user id. Most display settings are device-dependent when not in mirror mode - flexi, zoom, format, etc. You can even switch tabs independently, as long as the tab doesn't switch the mode between live and blind (e.g. looking at the group list). 
 One setup I really like is having RVI buttons that toggle users via a macro, so I can choose between "following along" and "exploring." 
 In addition to the command line, being on the same user also allows me to see channel highlighting, which I find very useful.
