arfr on element 1.9.11

I have followed all the steps in the wiki article.  The console is shown as online.  when I connect I get the rfr display but immediately get an error message connection error disconnected from console.  I can ping from phone to console and back again.  I am using the element's dhcp function.  What do I try next???

My phone is a Motorola RAZR running android 4.04  the app is v1.02r19.  the element runs 1.9.11

  • Many thanks but I've now fixed it. It was the password. I had set the element name to lds and setup the phone accordingly. However when I changed both to LDS-ELEMENT it sprang into life. I'm unclear whether it was the use of lower case, the length or whether I had stored a carriage return in the android password field and this then didn't match! Perhaps one of these days I'll do some proper tests but life is short when in the middle of a fitup.

All I have to do now is read the RFR  manual to find out how to use it properly but it has earned its keep already..

To answer your question, the element is 10.101.97.101 (the default). I set up the element dns to provide 10.101.97.105 onwards and the net mask to 255.255.0.0. The phone then gets 10.101.97.105 as you would expect.

  • If I can ask a question?  Is there any reason you've not updated your software past 1.9.11?  Which is pretty old at this point.  Just curious.

    thanks,

  • To be honest  Anne, it is really inertia.  We have had no issues with 1.9.11 and I managed  not to notice the release of  1.9.12.  We have a large number of designer/operators some of whom do shows rather infrequently so we prefer to do major  upgrades in the summer when the theatre is dark for several weeks and we can be sure of warning everyone, hence the decision to leave the  version 2 installation until July.

  • Fair enough.  Just interested.

    Thanks!
