MDG The ONE Fogger/Hazer

are you sure, that you only recorded those two parameters into the sub? don't know this specifc MDG fogger, so it's kinda a wild guess...

Why not make your own profile for the unit?

if you make profile you should be able to control each channel using ranges for the different settings. 

given the settings in the manual it shouldn't be that hard, if you do that a macro should then be able to turn the unit on and set the output you desire. then you should only need to set the output on/off and fan speed via subs, assuming you don't need to control the output % often. if you do then you could just record that directly in to a cue/sub easily. 

i would say that you shouldn't be recording the on/off commands (Ch 1) in to subs or cues, this could be causing the cycling your describing. make a profile and use the lamp controls to turn the unit on and off. 

i have an atmosphere and that's how i do it. i turn the unit on at the start of the day via a  macro, then have another set of macros to park the functions i need to create the output ( just the haze on or off for me) that i desire. 

have a look at how the other profiles look and that should give you an idea on how to create one for "the one".

It is something with going from the GIO through an opti-splitter.  I am still playing.  All works fine direct from the board or via net3 node.  It is not a bad splitter as I tried on more than one uni with the same results.

I saw you wrote about RDM on another post--By chance have you tried the opto plugged direct into the console? Or is the opto being used in conjunction with the Net3 Gateway. If it is the gateway, do you have RDM enabled on the gateway or console? If so I would try disabling this and see if it fixes your problems.

The opto is currently directly in to the GIO.  Anne has confirmed there is no RDM on the hard ports until 2.1.  So I have concluded there is an issue with the ONE and the opto.  To get around this right now, I have just run the ONE to a port on our only Net3 Gateway.  This was only intended if we needed a 3rd or 4th universe, but it helped me in this case.  Our venue prefers hard DMX when possible.

So are you plugging the opto in to the gateway and it works fine? 

Nope.  I am ignoring the opti for the hazer and plugging the hazer directly in to the Net3 Gateway.  I have MDG looking in to things as I think there is an issue between the opti and their unit.  No other fixtures on the network have issues.

If you have a chance, plug the opto in to the gateway and then hazer in to the opto--Id be curious to see if it performed the same way.

have you tried putting a terminator on the line?

or are you doing any 3 to 5 pin conversions? 

have you tried all of the ports on the opti?

Yes to the terminator.  We have no 3 pin.   Yes to all ports.  Tried on 3 opti units with same results.

It performs the same way.  This leads me to further believe it is an issue between the opto and MDG One.
