First off, let me say that I absolutely love the new implementation of network settings in 2.0, to address things like the Gio and Ti dual-NIC setup.
I am kind of surprised, then, that the settings don't seem to track through to the offline/client software. My work desktop (Win7 64-bit, yes in adminstrator mode) has two gigabit ethernet cards, one for the standard office stuff and one for working on our demo gear in a standard ETCNet environment. However, the offline software only seems to show one network at a time. With nothing connected to the ETC network, it only showed the office network. That makes a small amount of sense, I suppose. When I restart OLE with the interface active, it only shows the ETC network. I'm glad it picked the right one, but I don't know why it does what it does. I'd expect to see both connections, and with one inactive, that status listed as "offline."
The same is true with my WinXP laptop, which most laptops have multiple networks, at least wired and wireless. I was hoping to see both interfaces listed there, but no. I couldn't force the OLE to use the wired connection without disabling WiFi until after I started the program. Just now, it picked a completely random network adapter. (PDANet? Really?)
Is there another setting somewhere I should look at, or do I just need to manually disable any network adapters if I want to actually use client or an offline visualizer?
Thanks for anyone's thoughts or other experiences with this yet.
