Touchscreen question

Do I have to purchase an ELO monitor or an ETC monitor for touchscreen capability with my Ion, or are other brands acceptable?

I have looked at the "compatibility" wiki page, but it doesn't seem to provide a list of compatible monitors.

Thanks in advance!

  • I encountered this during the interim of purchases of our 2 Ions.

ETC stopped listing (and thus somewhat "recommending") touch screens, mostly as the manufacturers changed the specifications of the monitors yearly, sometimes keeping the same model number.  ELO did this with ours and we had to return a set and re-order.

As well, they (ETC) is not (unfortunately) installing an abundance of drivers for a lot of different screens - ELO was it as far as I can tell.  Compounded by a change in OS's from Win XP embedded on Ion (and maybe Element, and legacy Eos), to Win 7 on Gio and Eos Ti.  Plus, they (at least the dealer) is perfectly willing and happy to sell you a screen that will work with the console you are buying, so there's profit in that.
