Very dazed and confused: Ion monitor/desktop troubles

Everything was fine...

Our Ion set up:

2 monitors:  primary = Elo touchscreen and 2ndary = another std LCD

     1 20-channel fader wing

We've run 3 shows on the board, and thought we were just getting settled in. Then, for no apparent reason, when we shut the board down, transported it and restarted it, the monitor config was wrong. When we tried to get it set back to the way it was, we started "losing" tabs from the bottom of the screen. For example, we can no longer get the color picker on the touchscreen, but it will come up (small) on the 2nd monitor, on the bottom, right.

Right now we have the following: Live Channel (1), Playback Status (with List 1), and Master. Then at the bottom of the Elo, we have Park (6) and Playback Status (2).

I have read a lot of the manual and forum stuff, and I haven't seen an issue like this. Any suggestions as to how to get those tab (that is, numbered) options like Color Picker, Effect Status Display, Curves, Browser???

  • OK, I was able to get to the Record Target Lists in the Browser window, and in there found some of the missing Tab items (e.g., Effects, Color Palettes). But I can't get the Color Picker there so that I can get it up on the Elo Touch Screen.

And through a lot of configure messing, I got the touch panel configured for touching. (The trick was Exiting and going to Settings, then monitor arrangement --> Elo set up --> Align, and hitting ESC once (only once) to get the alignment over to the touch panel (it went to the non-touch LCD first).

  • Sounds like you may have swapped the monitor plugs when moving.... this can lead to some confusion and reconfiguration of the monitors and which one is 1 and 2....  If you are using the color picker in the CIA area then you need to have the touch screen as monitor 1 or at least the primary monitor.  The CIA can't be switched between monitors in the main console software it needs to be done from the shell. If you were running the color picker in a tab then you should look in the "virtual controls" section of the browser window.
