Shortcut Keystrokes

I have an X-Keys keyboard and I am trying to make shortcuts for certain color palettes.  By the shortcut list for V.2.0, ALT C is Color Palette, but I noticed that the console will not accept any numbers from an external keyboard.  So ALT C 1 will not put COLOR 1 on the command line.  Is this a bug?  Tried with scroll lock off and on and same results.

THanks

  • Hmm...

I just tested that with our consoles here, and the way I got them to not accept numbers from an external keyboard was by having Num Lock off.  If Num Lock is on, the extended keypad numbers work.  The top-row numbers always seem to work.

I don't know much about X-Keys; is there a way to turn Num Lock on or off?  Or define top-row numbers rather than extended keypad numbers?

  • Just checking but are you pressing and holding down Alt and then selecting C, then releasing C and then Alt. I think in X-keys this will look like [Alt down] [C down] [C Up] [Alt up] there maybe edge include in the Alt/C Down/Up.

I use macro all the time (and in 2.0) and this works for Shift+F8.

  • Sorry forgot to add, check Alt C is working from the external keyboard.

  • Well to be honest, it's not an X-keys, but a Gennovation Keypad, which programs very similiar.  What I'm seeing is that it works sometimes. Even from the external keyboard.  Sometimes I get COLOR PALETTE 1 and then after a few times, and maybe another keypress, I will get only COLOR on the cmd line.  This is this way until I unplug the keyboard and re-plug.  I am going to look at it more closely today and write down the keystrokes.  This is happening with a basic windows keyboard and with the gennovation keypad.

  • Is the keypad connected to a console or you PC?  Have you tried only having the Genovations keypad plugged in and unplugging the qwerty keyboard, if on a console?  Are you using the Y cable with the qwerty keyboard plugged into it, which is part of the product?  I am wondering if there is a conflict going on in Windows between the keyboard and the keypad, which is causing it to stop working?

  • Steven,  I am trying this on an Element console running 2.0.1 build 25.

I have tried it with the qwerty keyboard unplugged and with it in.  this also happens on the qwerty keyboard as well as the gennovation one.  The gennovation keypad I have is USB only.  No Y-cable being used.

I've had a problem in the past with a very inexpensive min pc keyboard that would actually disable the USB external keyboards after 30 minutes. I would have to unplug them and then wait 30 minutes for it to reset.  But that is not what I'm seeing here.
