Command line problem

Hi,

I think I have found a really big problem:-

On Version 2.0 software - if I terminate the command line with any thing other than the ENTER key - i.e. if I use a colour pallette for instance - the when I select the next channel the command reads::-

GROUP 2 - 245 (for example) - when in fact all I want is channel 245 - it is still thinking that the group needs to be on the command line - this is kind of annoying as its really slowing down the process, having to remember to press CLEAR everytime before selecting a new channel range

Is there a solution to this?

Thank you

  • Hi Declan.  We are not seeing this.  If it is reproducible, can you send your show file and logs (captured right after you see it) to me?

    Thanks much!

  • I can confirm there is a problem in magic sheets, direct selects, Live Table/Channel and Blind when clicking on a channel. Pick a channel with the mouse and set a level, either with @+@, F+F or @ level enter and the next selected channel will be added to the previous channel on the command line. Select a group and set a level then select a channel and it will be added to the group. Selecting a group after a group or a group after a channel works correctly. Typing channel numbers in from the keypad does not have this problem unless you click on a channel after typing in a channel and level.

This is on V.2 offline for the mac running under Snow Leopard. I plan to check this on the actual board tomorrow.

I'll attach a couple of screen shots.

  • This has been like that for ever, but until now no-one has realized. Only with the arrival of magic sheets it has started to bother people. While the current behaviour is not a bug but intended, there has been talk about improving this in an upcoming release.

I'm not sure the original post has been about this. It only happens with mouse (or touchscreen) actions, but he hadn't mentioned that.

  • Ah - Well it does make for sloppy programming with my new touch screen and magic sheets. I would recommend un-intending it.

Another little oddity I just came across. When you click once on a group in a magic sheet it selects the channels in the group, but when you click a second time hoping to un-select the group it puts a plus sign and the same group again. The channels stay selected. That doesn't seem correct. When you click twice on a direct select group it operates as you would expect although it leaves a "- group (n)" on the command line.

Again this is all on the offline v. 2 on a mac.

  • As Ueli has mentioned this is not a bug but the intended behaviour which has existed on the system from day one when selecting channel using selects.

After some discussion this is actually going to be changed though, so you can expect to see consistency between direct selects, magic sheets and command line entry.

    Cheers

  • Ah, sorry Declan.  Should have anticipated you were working with non-key actions.  The change Dan refers to has already been integrated into the 2.1 branch.  Until that is available, double-clicking a channel object with begin a new command line - or clicking anywhere outside of an object will clear the current CL.

    Thanks,
