File won't open or merge

I'm currently giving Ion tech support over the phone to someone.  They've saved a showfile that they've been working on for awhile, and after switching showfiles, they can see their showfile in the show file archive, but can't open or merge it.  It has the title they've given it, but there's no folder for it, or previous versions of the show file.  He was able to open it up again once, but this time he can't do anything with it.  I'm going to guess the problem occurred in saving it initially, but we still need a way for him to open up that file, or at least be able to merge his cues and subs into a new file.  I have been using the Ion for a good 2 years now, and have never encountered this problem.

Any advice?

  • If you go into the Shell and hit the Maintenance tab, you can go to the File Manager. If you can see the showfile there, you could try copying it to a USB stick or another location and try opening it from there.

    When you say they can't open it, how are they selecting the file, mouse click or the Select key? What errors if any are they receiving?

    I gave them the same advice to try to and put it on a usb key, and the file wouldn't open on the offline software.  They aren't actually receiving an error, the file shows up on the command line same as usual when you select it from the CIA, no matter which method of selection, however when they do so, nothing happens.
