It is also connected vis a show baby, and the hazer unit is showing power and that there is a good DMX connection(red and green LED's in back!  Last night when I unplugged the power and plugged it back in, the fan went to full power and the hazer did not fire.

you need to be aware, that there is a difference between Addresses and Channels.
a channel is the number that you use to talk to the console. and address (and the universe) is the number a console uses to talk to the hazer. address and channel can be different, there is a place in the console where you connect the address to the channel. this place is called Patch.

so let's say you refer to the hazer as channels 13 and 14 and you set the hazer's dipswitches to 101 and it's plugged into universe 1
[Displays]{Patch}
13 + 14 @ 1/101 Enter

the channel number and the address are now connected. you can bring up 13 for the haze and 14 for the fan. but of course you would have to set the dipswitches to 101 (1=ON, 2=OFF, 3=ON, 4=OFF, 5=OFF, 6=ON, 7=ON, 8=OFF, 9=OFF).

to just test the hazer, this method should be fine. but the recommended practice would be to tell the console that the hazer is one device. it doesn't matter that this device needs more than one dmx address. to do this, you would go to Patch and type 13 {Type}{Generic}{Hazer} At 1/101 Enter. now the console understands, that addresses 101 and 102 are connected to channel 13 and that one address belongs to the parameter Haze and one to the parameter Fan. now you would control the device with the encoders.

but to start, go ahead and patch it as two channels (like suggested in the first half) and have fun playing.
