Problem Showporting a .SSF

Hi,

Really sorry if this has come up on the forum somewhere before, and also sorry that it's not exactly an ETC problem.

I have a .SSF from a Strand 550 that I can't Showport. I've confirmed that my version of Showport works, by happily making ASCIIs out of other .SSFs, and had a second, re-saved .SSF sent to me from the company with the Strand console, in case the original file they sent was in some way corrupted, and even tried the whole process on a different PC to the original one, but I consistently get the same error while attempting the Showport.

After Showport says it's "Reading" the .SSF, the following error is thrown up, and the Showport progress bar freezes:

SH[1] shssfin(1029): ASSERT
SH[1] shssfin(441): ASSERT ErrMEMORY 4000 (0x0FA0)

Has anyone seen this error before, and know what it means? I assume it means Showport has encountered something in the .SSF it can't read/translate into ASCII? I don't have access to a 500 series right now, and so haven't been able to load the show file and look at it myself.

It's a bit of a punt, but has anyone encountered something similar before?

Cheers,

Nadene Wheatley

  • Hi Nadene,

The most common 'failure point' with Showport is when the Strand showfile name (ie. the name you see in the console itself, not the short DOS filename) contains a piece of punctuation that isn't a valid character in a DOS filename - usually a comma or a hyphen. Showport tries to make the export file have the console showfilename and fails to notice that the filename now contains an invalid character. Then it crashes.

I've never seen it do it with this error before, but I think that's the first thing I'd check.

Otherwise, is it a particularly big or complicated showfile?

    Rob.
