Step Effects Using Background Levels

Hi there

I recently tried using the background level as the OffState in a step effect, hoping that in the next cue I could fade the level up and alter the Off level.  Unfortunatly, this was not the case and the effect immediatly took on the background value instead of fading to it.  Is this what is suppose to happen?  I believe it would be really handy if it would be possible for the effect to take the background level from what if being outputted on stage and not the final value recorded in the cue

Hope that makes sense

Cheers

  • Hi Brent.  Actually, no that is not supposed to happen.  When you run the second cue, the channels should fade to their new background state of "off steps" using the fade time of the new cue.  Good catch.

And the background state can come from anyplace.  If you apply a step effect to tracked values, when that effect is triggered by the cue (lets say cue 1/5), if those channels are currently getting their value from another cue list (lets say 2/5), the effect will begin when 1/5 is executed, but the off value will be drawn from 2/5.    If you want the tracked values in 1/5 to be used for the background state, you can apply an assert flag to those channels.

    Make sense?

I am so sorry it took 10 days for us to reply.   But I seem to say that to you alot, don't I?

    Thanks much!
