EOS Patch

I have a question concerning EOS patch.  We will be using the same show file and same lighting rig in two different locations for our upcoming Christmas show.  "Show A" for claritys sake will be using Clay Paky Alpha Spots in our floor rovers.  "Show B" will be Clay Paky Alpha Profiles in our floor rovers.  My question is what will happen when we change the fixuture type to an Alpha Profile on the channel where an Alpha Spot used to live?  Will EOS hold the information of the channel and try to use it or will it not know what to do at all and we will have to start from scratch on those fixtures?  With these fixtures having different DMX personality layouts I thought I would ask the question to see what came up.  Thanks in advance!

  • The console will try to convert the data, but attributes that don't match up will be lost.  Depending on how you're using the lights, this may or may not be an issue for you.

I would patch the new fixture type to new channels, and then copy the data across manually in Spreadsheet.  That way I know what to expect.

FYI, a more graceful way of doing this is on the feature development list, but that's of little help to you today, unfortunately.
