Gio & Custom Scroller Strings

I have a Gio running 2.0.1. For my last show I patched the scrollers (Apollo SmartColor Pro 7.25s) according to the way we have them set up (Colour at DMX xxx, fan @ xxx+1 and reset @ xxx+2) using the "PL1 RST" variant of the fixture.

Next I attempted to create a custom scroll for them, which has 16 frames. The first problem, which I can work round is that the desk insists on putting a "clear frame" at the beginning of the string. Since my first frame is Lee130 this isn't a major problem, but may be in the future. How can I avoid this?

The more significant problem is that the desk automatically adds 2 frames to the end of the string, regardless of what I entered. This means that the direct selects are all significantly out, and also means that I can't seem to calibrate the strings properly. I used colour palettes as a work around, but it would be nice to solve this for future shows.

How can I tell the Gio how many frames the string has? Is this a desk issue, or a fault of the fixture library?

  • if you go to the Patch and then use softkey5 {Fixtures} you can edit the personality (to do so you have to copy it first). you will see the parameters listed. parameter 1 is Scroller and it has 18 ranges. click on the 18. you get the list with the ranges. remove the ranges called Color 16 and Color 17 and rename the first range from open to something else. exit and change the patch from the original apollo personality to your edited copy (you will find it in your favorites as well). now you should be sorted.
