Virtual Rig

Hello all. My first post on here. My name is Drew and I work as the house lighting tech at The Capitol Theatre in Chatham Ontario. My Console is the Ion. Wondering what virtual rig software the community would recommend for pre show programming / playing around when I don't have theatre hours.

Capture is okay, but quite basic. Depending on what you want to use it for and how detailed you want it to be, WYSIWYG would be my preference, but it can be quite expensive!

I am not sure what you refer to, when you say Capture is basic. It is one the of the best ones out there. If you need dimmer hook ups and stuff like that yes WYSIWYG would be an option, but you could use lightwrite for that and still have a few 100 £'s in your pocket.

ESP Vision is another visualizer option. They just released a software upgrade that allows it to handshake with Vectorworks 2014.

Since a requirement is "pre-show programming" that means working in the Eos Off-Line Editor.

At that point Capture would be your best bet as it's probably the easiest to get to interface with the Eos OLE.
